Which Byd Seal U engine is the most reliable?

1.5 DM-i hybrid (Xiaoyun) — History-Dependent verdict. Most Seal U DM-i owners on the UK and Spanish forums are not describing a ruined engine. Two workshops are. On bydowners.com a Seal U with under 5,000 miles shook hard while sitting at the lights, with the display showing battery and engine together; the AA found cylinders 2 and 4 misfiring, on a car that had only had premium petrol. An Austrian owner at about 15,000 km got 'Engine System Fault' after holding 150–175 km/h, felt a jerk rolling up to a light, and ended with a new petrol engine after three other parts had already been changed. The repairing dealer told him the updated software now holds the petrol engine to about two-thirds of its revs once the battery falls under 10%, which is the regime in which his first engine had failed. Beside that, the German forum has a long thread of a front-end knock on the Seal U DM-i: dampers get changed, some dealers say the noise is normal, and one owner spent eight months going back. The 12V on the same forum is dying every few months, and owners were told its cover is 12 months or 20,000 km. A UK owner past 12,000 miles could buy filters and plugs and almost nothing else. This is not a wet-belt story. It is a new engine that has already been replaced at least once, plus a knock and a parts counter that is still empty.
