Frequently asked questions

Which Dacia Duster III engine is the most reliable?

1.6 E-Tech (full hybrid) — Maint. Sensitive verdict. The 1.6 E-Tech full hybrid (the naturally-aspirated 1.6 H4M paired with Renault's clever clutchless multi-mode hybrid gearbox and two electric motors — shared with the Captur/Clio E-Tech) gives an EV-like, smooth town drive and strong economy. The Jogger Hybrid 140 used this gearbox until Dacia replaced it with the Hybrid 155 in 2026. The 155 is a 1.8 and is not this page. The base 1.6 H4M petrol is a proven, robust Renault-Nissan unit with no turbo. The cautions sit with the novelty of the dog-clutch multi-mode transmission (newer, complex, higher diagnostic bar) and the hybrid battery (durable, warrantied). Well-maintained it's economical and refined, especially in town; buy with eyes open on the clever-but-newer hybrid gearbox and ensure software is up to date.

Which Dacia Duster III engines should you avoid?

None of the Dacia Duster III engines listed are rated "Problematic" or "Avoid" — but always check the service history before buying.
